Much like any other peripherals used on a desktop, keyboards are a preference. Today, we have the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT up for review. With the integration of Elgato, new PBT keycaps, and a refreshed wrist rest as improvements, let’s see what the latest keyboard from Corsair has to offer.

The Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT is a lot of things put together. It is a full-size keyboard layout with added macro keys and a pretty big wrist rest along with a full load of RGB lighting. Priced at  ₱9,599, it is on the premium pricing but the set of features it has on it makes up for the price.

Unboxing

Function

It has the same aesthetics as the non-XT version but the significant upgrade here for those that are not particular with it are the double-shot keycaps. These are formed from two separate layers of coloured plastic to improve rigidity and give a more premium typing feel. The RGB light dazzles through them and are customizable using Corsair’s iCue Software.

Media controls can be seen at the topmost part of the keyboard while on the left-hand side is a set of macro keys. Another notable part of the keyboard is the textured spacebar which comes as a standard for most Corsair keyboards. Included in the package are alternate keycaps for the WASD keys. The textured alternative has a better-gripped surface that is not too distracting.

The macro keys can also come with blue S-keys to represent the functionality they have with Elgato’s Stream Deck software. These can be programmed for all sorts of quick shortcuts like managing Twitch chat or launching third-party applications. Some can say these are a streamer’s best friend.

Design

The K95 RGB Platinum XT’s body is made of brushed aluminium with an RGB strip and Corsair logo along the top edge. At the centre of it is a thick braided cable that is six feet long. While at the bottom is a detachable wrist rest. This is another important upgrade that Corsair has made. Changing the rubber to what seems like a softer and more comfortable leatherette.

Performance

One of the most sought out mainstream switches accompanies the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT ensuring optimization for both typing and gaming. These switches are close to the more commonly used Cherry MX Reds that are designed for multi-key rapid inputs. Each key is rated up to 10-million key presses in total.

The K95 RGB Platinum XT also has Cherry MX and Blue variants should the users have a preference. Although, the only variants available that are tactile for this keyboard is the Cherry MX Blue which has been a big preference for gamers.

The keyboard is quite amazing to use. The wrist rest is angled perfectly allowing a less strained and pleasant typing experience even after hours of use.

Conclusion

The K95 series deserve to be at the top of Corsair’s keyboard lineup with the K95 RGB Platinum XT at the very top. It comes with ingenious performance and durable build quality making this one of the top-notched mainstream mechanical keyboards in the market right now.

Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT

At  ₱9,599, it is undeniable that the price is high but considering the dedicated 6-key Stream Deck can cost as low as  ₱ 4,910 and these already come with dedicated macro keys, it gives you more than what you need. Along with the durability of the switch and build, the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT is definitely one that will last. Despite the price tag, it makes up for so much more including the sync if you have a full-decked Corsair set up.
